The story is about a young man named Desmond (although he was named RJZ in a lot of my savegames (you could give him the name you want at the beginning of the game)). He losses his legendary armour and some jewellery on a bunch of bandids, his Falcon sword and his Genji armor. actually you are seeking them over the whole game. On his quest he discovers that demons are interested in him and he has no clue why. Then he decides to go back to Phoenix, his hometown where also his friend Rolf lives. When you get finally in Phoenix Rolf will join your party. Later when they reached (with a lot of trouble) Arcadia, a village where only woman live, Luna will join the party. Luna is the only character who can cast magic, but she also can't just do regular attacks. They all had dreams about a woman, they later find out that she's Althea, the godess of light. If they reach her through a tempel she tells them a long story: Light and Darkness always have fought each other and there never has been a winner. Then mankind existed. Both sides tried to turn mankind to their side, now in every single human there was a struggle between Light and Darkness. Then they made some kind of contract, both Althea and Deimos (god of darkness) shall throw their son down and let them grow up between the humans without knowing who they really are. 20 years later they would fight each other and the side of the one who wins the duel will win the whole war. Of course Desmond happens to be the son of Althea and Arstein, who actually became a friend of Desmond was the son of Deimos. Arstein, as noble as he is, tricks Desmond and let himself be killed by him so that the Light side would win the war. But of course Deimos doesn't keep his word and doesn't surrender himself. The end battle is you vs Deimos and of course you win (if you're not stupid).
